Bagueri | Wine list »

Bagueri is a trademark of prestigious wines which we introduced in 1991. From the grapes of the selected vineyards and first-rate sites, we squeezed every last drop of the nobleness of the Brda soil and of the Mediterranean temperament.

We created the noblest wines from the varieties of selected grapes, to wit, Rebula, Gray Pinot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and offered them in a uniquely shaped and protected hexagonal bottle. Later, in 1991, we added the Contessa sparkling wine, produced observing the charmat method, to the still Bagueri wines.

49 ha of the highest quality vineyards of the entire Goriška Brda region meet the strict criteria relating to the Bagueri wine production. It is marlstone soil that is the particularity of the Goriška Brda region. Marlstone provides the best basis for high quality wines. At first, the soil is rich in limestone while later – under the impact of the sun, rain and vineyard cultivation - the marlstone breaks into fragments. A first-class soil of sandy-clayey character emerges enabling the production of unique Brda wines rich in minerals.

The structured Bagueri wines originate in the vineyards with mineral-rich sandy-clayey soil which is ideal for the structured white wines, and with brown saturated soil, of a relatively deep ground profile, suitable for heavy red wines. The Bagueri vineyards with their south to south-west site bathe in the sun as many as 2,300 hours per year and they enjoy an average temperature above 20˚C during more than 80 days. Precipitations (approximately 1,500 mm/year) are frequent in late autumn and in spring. The warmest month, July, sees the average temperature of about 23° C. Frequent south-eastern winds provide the Brda with warm and humid air which warms further above the Friuli Plain and contribute beneficently to the ripeness of the noble grapes intended fort the Bagueri wines.
