Quercus is Latin for oak. The Quercus programme comprises white and red wines. These are premium wines from the selected Goriška Brda sites which mature in oak barrels. Oak stands as a symbol of solidity, durability and eternity, which is ascribed to 'great' wines as well. Every connoisseur of wines knows that without oak there is neither a good wine cellar not a good wine.
WHITE WINES QUERCUS
White Pinot
White Pinot is of golden yellow colour. It has a nice, rich body and through its taste lemon and grapefruit are perceived. An enjoyable aroma with the traces of fresh fruit scents (apple, strawberry leaves, grapefruit as well as quince and caramels).
Gray Pinot
On the deep fertile soil, Gray Pinot provides excellent wines with high alcohol content, yet of a sweet taste and characteristic aroma. Its smell is reminiscent of tropical fruits (pineapple, grapefruit), butter, pear and cinnamon. It is one of the stronger wines. The sweetness of ethanol and higher alcohols conveys the impression of silkiness. The wine boasts rich flavour, harmonious and distinct acids and lingering impression.
Chardonnay
The Chardonnay variety gives strong, rich wines of full taste. It lingers in the mouth for quite a while. It excels in a varietal, subtle bouquet reminiscent of apple, freshly baked bread crust and the blossom of acacia. While the wine is maturing the aromas of butter, honey, vanilla and dry hazelnuts become distinct.
Rebula
The marlstone soil of the Goriška Brda and the influence of mild Mediterranean climate are most welcome for the perfect growth of the Rebula variety. The wine of a soft bouquet and fruity flavour is enjoyably refreshing. The harmony if acids gives it a drinkable characteristic.
Green sauvignon
A wine which is made from a sort named Sauvignon vert or Sauvignonasse. It is an old variety very famous in the Italian region Friuli.
Sauvignon
We are charmed by the characteristic bouquet with a subtle overtone of Muscat and the aromas of elder blossom, cut grass and blackcurrant leaves. It is full-bodied and with a sufficient acid content it provides the quality of freshness.
Cuvée White (beli)
Cuvée White, a blend made from Rebula, Sauvignonasse (Tocai friulano) and Chardonnay is born from the idea to valorize local varieties and to express all the richness of the territory.
RED WINES QUERCUS
Merlot
Merlot is a young variety from France first documented in the 18th century. It is named after blackbirds (merle is French for blackbird) which enjoyed pecking the grapes; furthermore, the colour of a blackbird recalls the colour of ripe grapes. The wine is of a ruby red colour which, over years, acquires the shade of amber. The aroma is reminiscent of raspberry, blackberry, mulberry and plum. It has a rich fruity taste with well balanced tanning, rather smoky and with a lingering finish. The fullness and harmony of the wine develop with suitable maturation in an oak containers.
Cabernet sauvignon Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is a premium variety with exceptional organoleptic properties. The wine is of a ruby red colour, extracted and full-bodied. Its field bouquet offers traces of the aromas of forest fruits and blueberry. The richness of this variety is added distinction while maturing in an oak container.
Cuvée Red (rdeči )
The softness of the Merlot, the spicy taste of the Cabernet franc and the structure of the Cabernet sauvignon make the Cuvée Red an equilibrated and harmonic wine, which reveals the diversity of the territory Goriška Brda.
ROSÉ WINES QUERCUS
Rosé
Rosé Quercus is a high quality wine, fruity, medium bodied with a pleasant acidity which gives a characteristic freshness.
